Scar Therapy

Physiotherapy-led scar support for C-section, abdominal, laparoscopic and other scars, helping with comfort, mobility and recovery.

This is for women who feel tightness, pulling, sensitivity, numbness, discomfort or restriction around a scar. Scar therapy can be useful whether your scar is recent or older, and can sit alongside postnatal, pelvic health, MSK or movement rehab support.

What this is

What is Scar Therapy?

Scar therapy is physiotherapy-led support for scars that feel tight, sensitive, numb, uncomfortable, restricted or difficult to reconnect with. It can be helpful after C-sections, abdominal surgery, laparoscopy, breast surgery or other procedures.

The aim is to help the scar and surrounding tissues move more comfortably, reduce sensitivity where possible, and support your confidence with touch, movement, exercise and daily activity. Treatment is gentle, consent-led and adapted to what feels right for you.

FAQs

Scar Therapy FAQs

How soon after surgery can I book?

You can ask for advice early, but hands-on scar work usually waits until the wound is fully closed and healing well. Your appointment can still support comfort, movement, breathing, gentle guidance and knowing what to do next.

Is it too late if my scar is years old?

Older scars can still be supported. Many women book months or years later because a scar feels tight, sensitive, numb, stuck or difficult to reconnect with. The aim is to improve comfort, mobility and confidence, not to erase the scar.

Will scar therapy be painful?

Scar work should not feel forceful or overwhelming. Some areas may feel tender or sensitive, but treatment is always adapted around your comfort. You can pause or stop at any point.

Do I have to touch the scar myself?

Not straight away. Some women feel nervous about touching their scar, especially after a difficult birth or surgery. We can go gently, starting with education, desensitisation, movement or simple steps when you feel ready.

Can this help if I feel disconnected from my scar?

Many women describe feeling numb, protective, emotional or disconnected around a scar. Scar therapy can help you understand the area, rebuild confidence with touch and movement, and feel more comfortable in your body again.

Ready to feel more connected?

Your scar is part of your story, but it doesn't have to dictate how you move.
