Initial Physiotherapy Assessment
A full first appointment to understand your symptoms, history, movement and goals, and agree a clear plan from there.
Physiotherapy support for pelvic floor concerns, bladder symptoms, pelvic pain, heaviness, core function and movement confidence.
This is for women experiencing symptoms such as leaking, pelvic heaviness, bladder urgency, pelvic pain, discomfort with movement, or feeling unsure about their pelvic floor. Appointments are 1:1 with an HCPC Registered Physiotherapist from a private home clinic in Tynemouth.
Pelvic health physiotherapy supports symptoms and concerns linked to the pelvis, pelvic floor, bladder, core and surrounding muscles. It can be helpful after pregnancy and birth, during menopause, or at any stage where something does not feel right.
You might be dealing with leaking, urgency, heaviness, pelvic pressure, pelvic pain, discomfort during sex, core weakness or uncertainty around exercise. Your assessment gives us time to understand what is going on and agree a plan that feels realistic for you.
Leaking when you cough, sneeze, laugh, lift, run, jump or feel a sudden urge to go.
A feeling of dragging, pressure or heaviness in the pelvis, often worse after standing, walking, lifting or busy days.
Not knowing what exercise is safe, how to return to the gym, or how to manage symptoms during movement.
Feeling disconnected from your core or pelvic floor, especially during lifting, exercise, breathing or daily activity.
Support after birth, during perimenopause or menopause, or during life stages where pelvic symptoms have changed.
Support with pelvic pain, discomfort during sex, tension, sensitivity or symptoms that feel difficult to talk about.
We start by talking through your symptoms, history, daily life and goals. This helps me understand what is happening and what matters most to you.
We assess what is relevant to you. This may include movement, strength, breathing, posture, core function, pelvic control and how symptoms show up during activity.
We finish with a clear pelvic health physiotherapy plan. This may include advice, exercises, rehab, strength work, treatment options, symptom strategies or follow-up support.
You can book follow-up physiotherapy appointments if ongoing treatment, rehab or support is recommended.
Your plan may include pelvic health rehab, postnatal physiotherapy, MSK treatment, movement rehab, strength work or scar therapy, depending on what you need.
You can use this as a one-off assessment and come back later if needed. There is no pressure to book more than you need.

Not always. It depends on your symptoms, goals and what feels clinically appropriate. Garance will talk through your options clearly first, and you stay in control of what you are comfortable with. Nothing is done without your consent.
Pelvic health symptoms can happen after pregnancy and birth, but they can also happen at other stages of life. You might book for leaking, urgency, heaviness, pelvic pain, discomfort, bladder symptoms or feeling unsure about your pelvic floor.
That is completely understandable. Many women feel nervous talking about leaking, heaviness, pain, sex, bladder symptoms or changes after birth. The appointment is private, 1:1 and paced gently, so you can talk about things in your own words.
Pelvic health physiotherapy can support symptoms such as leaking with coughing, sneezing, running or lifting, as well as urgency or feeling like you need to rush to the toilet. We’ll look at what may be contributing and what support your body needs.
It can. If symptoms are making you avoid running, gym work, Pilates, lifting or daily activity, we can look at how your pelvic floor, breathing, core and strength are working together, then build a plan that feels realistic.
