What is an Initial Physiotherapy Assessment?

This is a 60-minute first appointment for women who want clear physiotherapy support. It gives us time to talk through your symptoms, history, daily life and goals, then assess what is most relevant to you.

Depending on what you need, we may look at movement, strength, posture, pelvic health, scar tissue, breathing, core function or return to exercise. You leave with a clear plan for treatment, rehab or next steps.

FAQs

Initial Physiotherapy Assessment FAQs

What is the Initial Physiotherapy Assessment for?

This is the best place to start if you are new to Coastly, have a new concern, or feel unsure about what your body needs. We’ll talk things through properly, look at what feels relevant, and make a clear plan so you are not left guessing.

Will I need an internal assessment?

Not always. If pelvic health symptoms are part of what you want support with, Garance will explain the most appropriate assessment options clearly first. Nothing is done without your consent, and the appointment is always paced around what feels comfortable for you.

Can I book if I’m not postnatal?

Of course. You can book for pregnancy support, pelvic health symptoms, back or pelvic pain, scar recovery, movement rehab, strength work, massage, or simply because something does not feel quite right in your body.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in is ideal. Leggings, joggers, shorts or loose clothing all work well. The appointment will always be adapted around what you feel comfortable wearing and doing.

What happens after the assessment?

You’ll leave with a clearer idea of what may be contributing to your symptoms and what to do next. That might include treatment, exercises, strength work, simple changes at home, follow-up support, or reassurance about how to move forward.
