Initial Physiotherapy Assessment
A full first appointment to understand your symptoms, history, movement and goals, and agree a clear plan from there.
Physiotherapy for back, hip, pelvic and general aches and pains, including pregnancy and postnatal-related discomfort.
This is for women dealing with pain, stiffness, tension or niggles that affect daily life, movement, exercise or sleep. We can look at what is contributing to your symptoms and build a practical plan using treatment, movement, rehab and strength work.
MSK physiotherapy looks at muscles, joints, movement, strength and how your body is coping with daily load. It can help with back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain, neck and shoulder tension, sciatica-type symptoms, joint aches and ongoing niggles.
At Coastly, this support is women-focused. That means we can also consider pregnancy, postnatal recovery, pelvic health, hormones, scars, core function and return to exercise where they are relevant to your pain.
Pain that affects walking, lifting, feeding, carrying children, exercising, working or getting comfortable at night.
Pain that started during pregnancy, after birth, or while your body was adapting to new demands.
Pain, tingling, pins and needles or symptoms travelling into the buttock, hip or leg.
Tension linked to feeding positions, desk work, lifting, pregnancy changes, breathing patterns or daily posture.
Feeling unsure, weak or less supported through your hips, pelvis, knees, ankles, shoulders or back.
Symptoms that improve for a while, then return when you walk more, lift more, exercise or get busy again.
We start by talking through your symptoms, history, daily routine and what makes the pain better or worse. This helps me understand the bigger picture, not just where it hurts.
We look at the movements, strength, positions or activities linked to your symptoms. This may include your back, hips, pelvis, posture, balance, lifting, walking or exercise tolerance.
We agree a plan that may include hands-on treatment, rehab exercises, strength work, movement changes, pacing advice or follow-up support if needed.
Follow-up appointments can be used to progress treatment, rehab and strength work as your symptoms and confidence improve.
Your plan may connect with pelvic health, pregnancy physiotherapy, postnatal rehab, scar therapy or movement and strength work, depending on what is contributing to your pain.
You can use this as a one-off assessment and come back later if needed. There is no pressure to book more than you need.

This service is for back, hip, pelvic, rib, neck, shoulder or general aches and pains. It can also be helpful if pain keeps coming back, feels linked to pregnancy or postnatal recovery, or is affecting how you move day to day.
Pregnancy-related pain can be supported with physiotherapy, including back pain, hip pain, pelvic girdle pain and discomfort with walking, stairs or sleeping. The appointment is adapted around your pregnancy stage, symptoms and comfort.
Longer-term pain is still worth looking at. We can talk through your history, what tends to flare it, how it affects daily life, and what might help you build strength, confidence and better movement over time.
It may include hands-on treatment if that feels useful and appropriate. It may also include movement assessment, strength work, advice, exercises or changes to daily habits. The session is built around what your body needs, not a fixed formula.
Pre-crawling babies are welcome at the home clinic. The appointment can pause for feeding, changing or settling, so you do not need to worry if your baby needs you during the session.
This clinic provides a range of services and addresses various conditions to support women through all stages of their health journey.
