Initial Physiotherapy Assessment
A full first appointment to understand your symptoms, history, movement and goals, and agree a clear plan from there.
Physiotherapy-led scar support for C-section, abdominal, laparoscopic and other scars that feel tight, sensitive, numb or restricted.
Scars can affect comfort, movement, sensation and confidence, even months or years after surgery. Physiotherapy can help you understand what is going on and build a clear plan for scar comfort, tissue mobility and daily movement.
Scar recovery support can help when a scar feels tight, sensitive, numb, raised, stuck, uncomfortable or difficult to reconnect with. This may include C-section scars, abdominal scars, laparoscopic scars, breast surgery scars or other surgical scars.
The aim is to improve comfort, tissue mobility and confidence. Support may include gentle scar massage, soft tissue techniques, desensitisation, movement, breathing, mobility work and advice for home care, always at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
A pulling, dragging or tight feeling around the scar when stretching, reaching, standing tall, lifting or exercising.
Discomfort, tenderness or heightened sensitivity when clothing rubs, the area is touched, or pressure is applied.
Feeling like the skin, scar or deeper tissue does not move freely with the surrounding area.
Numbness, tingling, pins and needles, reduced sensation or a strange feeling around the scar.
Changing how you sit, stand, walk, lift, stretch or exercise because the scar area feels uncomfortable.
A dull ache, pressure or discomfort around the abdomen, pelvis or scar area that seems linked to previous surgery.

Older scars can still be supported. Many women book months or years later because a scar feels tight, sensitive, numb, stuck or difficult to reconnect with. The aim is not to erase the scar, but to help the area feel more comfortable and move more freely.
Scar work should not feel forceful or overwhelming. Some areas may feel tender or sensitive, but treatment is always adapted around your comfort. You can pause, slow down or stop at any point.
Not straight away. Some women feel nervous about touching their scar, especially after a difficult birth or surgery. We can start gently with education, desensitisation, movement and simple steps when you feel ready.
Only the area being assessed or treated needs to be uncovered, and only with your consent. The appointment is private, respectful and paced around what feels comfortable for you.
Scar therapy cannot promise to change appearance, but it may help with scar mobility, tissue tension, swelling, comfort and how connected the area feels. Many women book because the scar feels tight, stuck, sensitive or difficult to move around.
Book an Initial Physiotherapy Assessment and we’ll make a clear plan for your scar comfort, tissue mobility and movement confidence.
