Initial Physiotherapy Assessment
A full first appointment to understand your symptoms, history, movement and goals, and agree a clear plan from there.
Physiotherapy support for postnatal recovery, core strength, pelvic health, scar recovery and return to movement.
This is for women who want support after birth, whether you are a few weeks, months or years postnatal. We can look at pain, pelvic symptoms, abdominal separation, C-section recovery, weakness, movement confidence and getting back to exercise safely.
Postnatal physiotherapy supports your physical recovery after pregnancy and birth. It can help you understand what your body needs, what is normal, and what can be improved with the right treatment, rehab and guidance.
You might be dealing with back or pelvic pain, pelvic floor symptoms, abdominal separation, scar tightness, weakness, leaking, heaviness, or uncertainty around exercise. Your assessment gives us time to understand what is going on and agree a plan that fits your stage of recovery.
Pain or discomfort after birth that has not settled, or keeps returning with feeding, lifting, walking or exercise.
Feeling weak, disconnected or unsure how to rebuild strength through your core, back or pelvis.
Not knowing what exercise is safe, when to progress, or how to return to running, gym work, Pilates or sport.
Support with abdominal separation, coning, core control and rebuilding confidence in your tummy area.
Support with leaking, heaviness, pelvic pressure, bladder symptoms, pelvic pain or pelvic floor concerns.
You may be months or years postnatal and still feel something is not quite right in your body.
We start by talking through your birth, symptoms, recovery, daily life and goals. This helps me understand what matters most to you.
We assess what is relevant to you. This may include movement, strength, core function, abdominal separation, scar tissue, pelvic health or exercise tolerance.
We finish with a clear postnatal rehab plan. This may include treatment, exercises, strength work, scar support, pelvic health advice or follow-up options.
You can book follow-up physiotherapy appointments if ongoing treatment, rehab or support is recommended.
Your plan may include pelvic health physiotherapy, scar therapy, MSK treatment, movement rehab or strength work, depending on what you need.
You can use this as a one-off assessment and come back later if needed. There is no pressure to book more than you need.

It can be, depending on how you are feeling and what you need. Early postnatal appointments can be gentle, with support for comfort, feeding positions, breathing, scar care, pelvic health, movement and understanding what feels right to start with.
Definitely. It does not need to be recent to matter. Pain, leaking, heaviness, scar tightness, abdominal weakness or feeling unsure about exercise can still be supported months or years after birth.
Not at all. Postnatal physiotherapy can help with much more than pelvic floor symptoms. You might want support with back pain, hip pain, abdominal separation, C-section recovery, lifting, carrying, posture, weakness or getting back to exercise.
C-section recovery is a very common reason women book. We can look at scar comfort, abdominal strength, lifting confidence, movement, posture and how to return to exercise gradually. Scar work is always explained first and only done with your consent.
We can look at where your body is now, what you want to get back to, and how to build up in a way that feels realistic. The aim is to help you feel stronger and more confident, without feeling like you are guessing.
